25 Jan IMM Cologne & LivingKitchen 2017
Bracing the minus temperatures, me and my colleague Toby ventured to Cologne for the annual International Interiors Show. This both being our first time, we were excited for what was in-store and frankly we were not disappointed!
A variety of interior design ideas for every room and every style awaited us – from the basics all the way to designer items and luxury furnishings.
What We Saw…
New ‘Nordic Luxe’
A mature version of the current Scandinavian trend. Think a continuation of simple, clean lines but with more luxurious materials and a more grown-up feel. Gold, smoked glass, nesting tables, velvet, high quality raw materials with paper lampshades, ceramics and marble still having an impact.
Think rattan everything, texture, fur, the over use of greenery of course, clay and bamboo. Jungle inspired wallpaper, only for the brave, parrots for flamingos and brass for copper.
The wood used throughout being a bare, natural, sandy wood in contrast to a heavy influence of black, in terms of seating, tables and display furniture. In the kitchen dark takes over.
Rich jewel tones will take center stage this year with the key colour green and blue’s, as well as the soft pastel shades of dusky pinks and peach.
